one, two, cha cha cha...

Whew, it was a busy week for me.. Mostly it is due to the string of tutorials i had throughout the week, but it is also partially because of the series I've been watching... hehe... Been kinda hooked on 'Steps', the TVB Hong Kong drama that was showing on Astro on Demand (don't know if it still is), but i got super interested in it for the fact it involves dancing! haha.. Though its Latin dances, its still dancing.. nice! Now I'm left with 2 more episodes to go...

Oh, i did go out for dinner last night. My dinner pals decided not to cook and instead go to town and try out this restaurant by the name of Wetherspoon Free House that was by the train station. The bus wait to town was dreadfully long and it left us feeling cold, tired and hungry by the time we got to the place. To make things worse, the place was so packed that we had to sit outdoors and the orders had a half an hour waiting period. Boy, the cappuccino and heater next to our table didn't do much to comfort us.

After about a million yawns and my tummy grumbling loud enough for the next table to hear, the rack of pork ribs with barbecue sauce i ordered was HEAVEN!! It was gooood... There was also corn on the cob, coleslaw and chips on the side too.. haha.. We all dug into our food so fast that we didnt take pictures.. And it was also to down it before it got cold.. haha.. So sorry people for the lack of pictures.. =)

The weather this week is much colder than last week's. Even without the rain, its generally the temperature thats chilly.. Alright, to make up for the lack of pictures, i'll show the view you get from my room..

These days, you don't get to see the sun till about 9 and it sets at about 5 something.. Its bad, considering how it makes u feel constantly sleepy... And with the cold, you are hungry all the time too... Yerp, so all you do is eat and sleep.. Hahah!

this little piggy

Yesterday, i had a little incident... Nothing major, but a little injury was sustained..

It happened after watching the Brazilian F1 Qualifying, I was about to go over to my friend's place to have dinner.. After exiting my block, I realised I had forgotten to take something along with me and ran back up the stairs.. As I ran up the first flight of stairs, I fell at the top step.. Felt totally fine till I looked at my feet..

The nail on my left big toe was bleeding.. and there was a crack too.. OUCH..

Went back to my room, covered it with some cotton and plastered it..

Afraid to look at it.. I'm gonna have an ugly left toe nail now.. *sob*

Forced myself to have a look at it just now.. Looks kinda scary, but not that bad..

What if it doesn't heal properly? Gosh.. I don't want an ugly toe nail...

Argh.. I can't take proper showers now...

Oh, how i wish i can just cover it up and open it in 2 weeks time hoping that the nail grows back all nice and clean..

sigh..

I'll just hope that the little piggy who went to the market gets a speedy recovery..

a warm welcome

Been busy compiling pictures with all the events that kept me busy throughout the whole of last week. Really sorry that you all had to wait for my updates.

Last Thursday, the Law Department gave the international students a welcome buffet, it was nice of them to make an effort to get to know the international students. Naturally, most of the people who attended are from Malaysia, as for some unknown reason, there was a huge influx of Malaysian students this year, about 60 came flooding into Aber to study law. Hahaha..

With free food and drinks as bait, all of us made our way to Brynamlwg (please don't make any attempt to pronounce it) at 6.15pm, which was conveniently after the Equity and Trusts lecture.

When we got there, a table with wine bottles and orange juice-filled jugs greeted our sight. Whoa, it’s gonna be some night.. Haha.. Walking further on into the room, the whole place was nice and cosy, kinda like a little tavern that you read in books.

Some of the academic staff were there to greet the students and ushered us in to have a seat. While my friend went to get us drinks, we started mingling around, talking to lecturers and friends. And before you know it, cameras were whipped out and flashes were everywhere.

Finger-food was served that night. There were lots of sandwiches, quiches, pizzas, egg balls, chips and a few assortment of little karipap-like food. And if you think finger food won't fill up your tummy, you're wrong! After that, there were desserts - 4 types! ooh.. Man, we felt super stuffed. What do you do after that? More picture time of course!

The agenda for the night wasn't only to meet the international students, there was also a slot for the presentation of the Levi awards by the university. Sadly, me not being the brightest law student, obviously didn't get it. However, one of my dear friends is a recipient!

The night ended pretty early but everyone went home happy. My friends and I actually took a stroll to the nearby grocery store and I ended up buying pancakes for breakfast!!

Hi people!

Told you all that I’ll get to it when I’m all settled down, see I do keep my promises. Haha! But it did take me some time to navigate about the websites before being able to come up with this (see I even did that cbox thing! Hehe..). I know, it is not as fancy as yours, but it shall serve its purpose for the time being. Yeah, so basically, this lovely little space shall be where I’ll update you all with my life over here in Aberystwyth!

I have pretty much settled down since I got here about 2 weeks ago. For now, I’ll just say that the place is nice, quiet and rather small. And that the university is situated on a hill, roughly a 15 minute walk from the town, but it would prolly take about 25-30 minutes back coz you’re walking uphill! =D Not to worry, I’ll be introducing finer bits and parts of the area to you in future posts. Hopefully it won’t be too much of a bore.

I know, I know... You all want to see pictures of the places I’ve been to so far right? (and yes, I’ll include the London ones) Haha.. Well, just be patient and wait awhile longer as I am still currently compiling them.

Alright, here’s a little something about my university. Previously I had informed everyone that I was studying in the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, but as of the 1st of October 2007, the university sorta got an upgrade in its status, with the power to issue its own degrees (not that it didn’t have the power to previously, but just that now its issuing them on its own and no more under the University of Wales branch.. Got it? No? Too confusing? nevermind! haha). So it’s now known as Aberystwyth University! Weee...
